Morristown Utilities and Tennessee Valley Authority donates $5,000 to Morristown Tennessee College of Applied Technology
April 20, 2022 – The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and Morristown Utilities (MU) donated $5,000 to the Tennessee College of Applied Technology of Morristown (TCAT) for student funding related to workforce development in Hamblen County.
President of TCAT, Jerry Young, noted on TCAT’s partnerships that support his students, “As TCAT Morristown continues its focus on the mission of student success and workforce development great community partners like TVA and Morristown Utilities are and have always been key supporters of that mission. Their donation will be used in its entirety to ensure Hamblen County students have the necessary tools to complete their training and fill the many critical workforce needs in our community. The college is truly appreciative of the donation and more importantly the overall support we have from these two great partners.”
MU has a long history of community involvement and wishes to make funds available to entities that support community needs and educational programs that support the development of our community’s future workforce, necessary to sustain our economy.
MU General Manager, Jody Wigington, stated “We are proud to participate in the development of skilled employees toward technical careers that under gird the success of our community.”
In November 2021, TVA donated $30,000 through their Community Care Fund with a $30,000 match from MU. The TVA Community Care Fund is designated for community programs related to education, workforce development and training, community enrichment, and health, hunger and housing. This donation to TCAT is the first of the $60,000 to be donated to community programs.
